Human history in Horseshoe Canyon dates back at least 10,000 years. The artwork left by the ancients here is only 2000-5000 years old, though (only pronounced with heavy sarcasm). One of the largest and best preserved examples of Barrier Canyon petroglyphs and pictographs, the Great Gallery is a haunting experience. The gallery is massive, with so many details, a visitor can easily spend an hour staring at it, trying to think about the possible interpretations and meanings of the figures painted on the wall so many centuries ago.
